Number of Ukrainian refugees decreased in Chisinau

Chisinau, March 28 / MOLDPRES /- The Extraordinary Public Health Commission of Chisinau stopped activity of 40 refugee placement centers.

The head of the Social Welfare and Health Department of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Boris Gâlcă, stated at today's online meeting of the municipal services that the experts of the above-mentioned Commission decided to stop the activity of 40, out of the 45, placement centers organized by local public authority for managing the flow of Ukrainian refugees in the capital. "We are seeing a decrease in the number of refugees from Ukraine requesting accommodation in placement centers in Chisinau. For example, only ten people were placed in the placement center organized within the Municipal Clinical Hospital Phthisiopneumology, which could accommodate 150 refugees. In order to save financial and human resources, we decided to stop the activity of these placement centers ", said Gâlcă.

The official said that the activity of the placement centers will be stopped. "We will not close the placement centers, their activity will only be stopped because we want to be able to take them down quickly in case of need," the quoted source added.

At the same time, the mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, mentioned that a mobile health center will be stationed at the Placement Center organized in the Patria cinema in the Rascani sector, which will be served by Israeli doctors and an ambulance. The mayor said that all refugees requesting food packages will receive these aids and that about 250 food packages were distributed at this center every day.
