Moldovan president has meeting with Italian, Romanian MPs

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with a group of Italian and Romanian MPs, representatives of the Renew Europe Group of the European Parliament. The discussion was focused on the situation in Moldova and in the region, the major economic impact of the war in Ukraine on Moldova and the importance of deepening the cooperation with Italy and Romania, the presidential press service has reported.  

President Maia Sandu noted that, especially on this complicated period, Moldova needed assistance of the international community, in order to face the unprecedented crises faced and continue the carrying out of the plans on the country’s development. As priorities, the head of state highlighted projects due to ensure energy alternatives. Also, Maia Sandu referred to the need to increase the European budgetary support for Moldova, as well as the importance of the opening of European markets for the Moldovan producers hit by the war.  

The lawmakers reconfirmed the support for the political and economic transformations underway in Moldova. The MPs gave assurances that they would back the country in the implementation of the European agenda and in the process of integration into the European Union.
