Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime minister Natalia Gavrilita and an official delegation of Italy, made up of senators, deputies and European lawmakers, today tackled subjects on the regional security and Moldova’s European aspirations, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM referred to the authorities’ actions aimed at diminishing the impact of the war on the key sectors for Moldova’s development, as well as to the mechanism of management of the refugees’ crisis. In the context, the prime minister thanked the Italian side for the assistance provided to Moldova, noting that a priority in this moment is the creation of conditions necessary for distributing refugees to EU member states.

Natalia Gavrilita stressed that the support of the European Union states was important both in the management of the crisis and in the process of consideration of Moldova’s application on accession to EU, submitted on 4 March 2022. ‘’The signing of the application on accession was a natural step for Moldova, following the signing of the association agreement and of the one on deep and comprehensive free trade area. We are a country with European aspirations – we are interested in joining the EU as soon as possible; yet, we understand that we still have much to do for this or we are ready to do our homework. Italy is one of the closest partners on the way of European integration,’’ the PM added.
