Prizes in culture field for 2021 year awarded in Moldova

Chisinau, 28 March /MOLDPRES/ - A ceremony on the awarding of the Culture Ministry’s prizes for 2021, the ninth issue, took place at the National Art Museum of Moldova today. The prizes of the Culture Ministry in the culture field are annually awarded for creation productions and artistic innovations, which have significant impact on the national and international cultural heritage, got the society’s appreciation and contributed to the promotion of the national culture internationally.     

Attending the event, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that the awarding of the Culture Ministry’s prizes was an appreciation for these people who, despite the pressure of these difficult times, marked by crisis, haste and confusion, dedicate their lives to looking for senses, deep aesthetic manifestations and, through this, they manage to comfort and help the people around them. ‘’The cult people and the civilized societies raise the shield of art before the dominant instinct of falling upon the others and have more, of putting the personal interest before the communities, of using violence where there is no understanding. At each test of the history, we have the impression that we no longer resist, that the art is weak before the weapons, that the aesthetic things give up before the avarice and each time the shield resists and the art lasts. In these difficult times for our country, when we hear the noise of the battles which destroy the neighbor country, I will ask you to hold this shield, to continue to do art, as this is what will remain. We will do our utmost, so that we find room for new programmes in culture in these times as well,’’ PM Natalia Gavrilita said.        

In the context, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said that, along with the government, he would do his best to support the art and culture, to give it dynamism and promote it. ‘’Really, there are particularly hard, incredible times. Nobody has ever thought that such things can happen. Yesterday, six missiles hit the Lviv city. And on the same day, the Lviv-based Philharmonic gave its first concert since the beginning of the war. I have said it and I will always repeat it: the culture means not only art; culture does not mean only songs and dances or opera and ballet. The art is the manifestation of culture; it is the nation’s state of spirit. Only a people with a state of spirit can give birth to cultural values. And we make sure according to the example of our neighbours that the state of spirit means, in fact, resilience, means, in fact, success, including when you are attacked. The state of spirit of our neighbours makes including this war to have chances of victory. By investing in culture, we, in fact, invest in the country’s resilience. Only a society with a high level of culture can resist, edify, can create, including material goods. The lack of education grows without culture. And in the case of lack of education, the latter is quite aggressive. I think that a war between culture and lack of education is taking place in the world today. We must consolidate around the culture which we have, promote it, move it forward and on this occasion, I want to congratulate and bow before all people who work in the culture field,’’ Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan said.   

Attending the event was also presidential adviser Angela Brasoveanu.
