More than 260 hectares of vegetation destroyed by fire in last 24 hours

Chisinau, March 29 / MOLDPRES /- In the last 24 hours, the employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations / IGSU / have intervened in 316 missions to eliminate vegetation outbreaks. Most cases took place in localities in Rascani, Drochia, Ocnita, Glodeni, Calarasi, Anenii, Noi, Causeni, Hancesti, Rezina and Chisinau districts.
According to IGSU data, over 50 hectares of dry grass were destroyed on the outskirts of Anenii Noi district, and another 80 hectares of vegetation were destroyed in Bușăuca, Rezina district. Rescuers needed intervention in Lipnic, Ocnita, where the fire destroyed 60 hectares of land, and in Glodeni, the burning affected 70 hectares of grass. Firefighters were asked to intervene in Onișcani, Călărași, but also in Sărata Galbenă, Hâncești, where they extinguished outbreaks on large areas.
In this context, firefighters are calling on people to stop igniting dry vegetation, garbage, but also reeds near lakes. In conditions of low humidity, high temperatures and strong winds, fires spread rapidly.
IGSU statistics show that since the beginning of 2022, rescuers and firefighters have intervened in more than 5,000 missions to locate and extinguish the burned land, affecting more than 38 thousand hectares of vegetation.
