Moldovan foreign affairs minister participates in opening of council on dialogue of strategic policies

Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu , along with Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi, at an invitation by Interior Minister Ana Revenco, today participated in a session on the opening of the Council on dialogue of strategic policies, Together4Home Affairs. The event is organized by the Interior Ministry (MAI), with the support of the European Union’s Delegation. Attending the session were the diplomatic corps and the development partners of Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
In his speech, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu referred to the complex regional context and the challenges faced by the Moldovan authorities, in order to ensure a safe social and economic climate for the country’s citizens. The official also pointed out that the new reality of insecurity triggered by the war in Ukraine had redirected the resources and the attention of the government in the direction of the new emergencies, priorities and humanitarian needs.
„The government team, through inter-institutional cooperation, is determined and prepared to carry out the reforms in the key sectors. These priorities of strategic policies are not only of MAI, but regard also our joint effort and deal with the combating of corruption and criminality, strengthening the dimension of security, safety and public order, ensuring a coherent process of digitalization and the European standards of cyber security,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head stressed that the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry, through its team of diplomats from Chisinau and in embassies, had provided every expertise for the efforts made by MAI, which was institutionally the worst hit authority by the humanitarian crisis. In the context, Deputy PM Nicu Popescu thanked the employees of the Border Police, Migration and Asylum Bureau, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and other subdivisions, which proved full solidarity in this humanitarian crisis, worked assiduously day and night, along with the teams of diplomats.
„On this difficult period, Moldova has not been alone; we have everybody felt the solidarity of the country’s partners and I am confident that we will continue to coordinate our actions in the long run. We want to make sure that we will continue working together, along with the international community in a way which can result in our voluntary contribution to the regional stability and the support of the foreign partners is absolutely crucial,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
