Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/- Yesterday, anticorruption prosecutors conducted searches at four buildings and a car in a criminal case, based on illicit enrichment, committed by a person with a position of public dignity, in which a former director of the Intelligence and Security Service is targeted. Following the raids, the former head of SIS was detained for 72 hours and placed in the isolation of the National Anticorruption Center.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the former director of SIS is suspected of having implemented a plan in 2014-2019, holding several positions of public dignity, in order to hide his income, which he could not legally justify. criminal offense consisting in the procurement for oneself of movable and immovable property through intermediaries and the fictitious registration of the property right in the name of relatives or trusted persons.
Following the searches, anti-corruption prosecutors seized several documents, a mobile phone and an iPod, which are to be examined.
The former SIS chief was heard as a suspect in illicit enrichment. He gave statements regarding the circumstances of the case and was detained for 72 hours, placed in the isolator of the National Anticorruption Center.
