Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/- Parliament's decision on amending point 1 of Parliament's decision No433/1990 on commemorative days, holidays in the Republic of Moldova was published in the Official Journal today.
Under the document, the National Reading Day will be marked on February 14 and the authorities and institutions with responsibilities in culture and education will provide logistical and financial support to libraries, museums, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, publishing houses, for organizing events to promote reading.
At the same time, the Audiovisual Council, media service providers and distributors will produce, broadcast or rebroadcast programs to promote and encourage reading.
The declaration of the National Reading Day is proposed in the context of marking worldwide the International Day of Reading Together, held annually in the first days of February, but also on February 14, the day the great poet Grigore Vieru was born.
This Decision shall enter into force one month after the date of its publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova.
