Women from Straseni, Calarasi districts to benefit from consultations of mobile medical teams

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/- Women from Straseni and Calarasi districts have the opportunity to have breast screening through mobile digital mammography.

Under the Ministry of Health, women aged 50 -70 with or without health insurance can be screened for free by digital mammography in the district of residence.

The service is already available in Straseni and Calarasi, where radiologists performed mammography on more than 200 women. The specialists from the Oncological Institute will reach in total 12 districts. After performing digital mammography of both mammary glands, the radiological images are transmitted to the imaging doctors from the Oncological Institute, which deals with their description. In case of diagnosing diseases, women are consulted by mammologists from the Diagnostic Consultative Center (CCD) of the Oncology Institute.

Breast screening allows the detection with the help of a mobile radiological installation of the pathologies of the mammary glands in the early stages, when women have no symptoms. The radiological examination is recommended to be performed every two years.

According to specialists, among all types of cancer, in women in the Republic of Moldova, breast cancer is most frequently diagnosed. Every year, about a thousand people are diagnosed with breast cancer, under the supervision of doctors being in total about 10 thousand women.
