Participants in meeting of Parliamentary Association Committee of Moldova - EU signed final declaration

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/- Final Declaration and recommendations of the 11th meeting of the Parliamentary Association Committee of the Republic of Moldova - European Union, held on 6-7 April in Strasbourg were adopted today.
The document addresses the consequences of Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine; Moldova's application for EU membership; strengthening EU-Moldova relations and pursuing an ambitious reform agenda; the economic difficulties facing Moldova, in particular the consequences of the artificially created gas supply crisis; the epidemiological crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the EU Economic Recovery Plan for Moldova; peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian problem; expanding parliamentary cooperation.
In particular, the signatories welcome the solidarity and support provided by the Moldovan authorities, as well as the Moldovan citizens, to the Ukrainian refugees, and also call on the European Commission to further increase financial and technical assistance to Moldova.
It is also noted the signing, on November 29, 2021, of the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Parliament and the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the common framework for supporting parliamentary democracy.
The document highlights the important role that the Parliamentary Committee of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Association can play in promoting close cooperation and in supporting reforms in Moldova and monitoring their implementation.
