Moldovan president expresses gratitude for Latvia's full support for Moldova's European aspirations

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met President of Latvia Egils Levits, on an official visit to Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
The two officials discussed the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the security challenges in the region and condemned the atrocities against civilians from Ukrainian cities. The head of state thanked President Levits for the decision to receive 500 Ukrainian refugees who had come to Moldova, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided to the country to manage the flow of refugees.
President Maia Sandu thanked also for Latvia’s full support for the European aspirations of Moldova. ‘’We appreciate the good cooperation and friendship relations between our countries in such sectors as the good governance, regional development, combating corruption and information security. We want to extend them, for the benefit of the citizens. Yet, any development needs, first of all, peace,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
