Moldovan parliament ratifies new contract on financing on behalf of European Investment Bank

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament ratified the contract on financing between Moldova and the European Investment Bank (EIB) for carrying out the Energy Efficiency in Moldova Project today.

The value of the contract between the government and EIB is 30 million euros. They money will be used to enhance the energy efficiency at public institutions: hospitals, kindergartens, schools. The project also provides for the exemption from the value added tax (VAT), from excise duties, payment of the customs duty and other taxes of the import and purchasing of goods, works services meant for implementing the Energy Efficiency in Moldova Project.

The parliament has earlier ratified the agreement on loan between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) of the similar value, which is also meant for carrying out the Energy Efficiency in Moldova Project.

The overall value of the project is of 75.5 million euros, including the two loans – on behalf of EIB and EBRD and the grant component.
