Switzerland donated batch of medical devices to Moldova

Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/- The Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova through the Healthy Life Project - Reducing the Burden of Non-Communicable Diseases - donated to Moldova another batch of medical devices worth 330,670 Swiss Francs.
The event was held at the Straseni health centre. "Donation from Switzerland is an important support for the the public medical institutions of primary health care and directly contributes to the increase of the quality of the medical care offered to the patients ”, State Secretary of the Health Ministry Ion Prisăcaru said.
Project's team leader Ala Curteanu said that the Moldovan-Swiss project currently supports a training program in diabetes management and early diagnosis of diabetic foot, actions that will be supplemented with another donation in the coming months.
The donation includes 197 electrocardiographs and 445 state-of-the-art pulse oximeters, which will be distributed to 142 health centers in 25 districts of the country.
The devices are portable, and with their help people will be able to be consulted at home by family doctors. The donated electrocardiographs have 12 measurement channels, with properties for analyzing, interpreting and storing the data of the electrical activity of the heart.
Switzerland is one of the largest bilateral grant donors in the health sector of the Republic of Moldova.
