Chisinau, 8 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today handed state distinctions to more culture people from Moldova. The Mihai Eminescu medal and diverse honorific titles were awarded, under presidential decrees, on the National Culture Day on 15 January, the presidential press service has reported.
At a ceremony on handing distinctions, held at the Presidency, the head of state congratulated all laureates. Maia Sandu expressed admiration for their talent and for the stoicism and courage to make qualitative art, no matter whether this is in Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Drochia, Telenesti and Nisporeni or in Vienna or Copenhagen. According to the president, each of the culture people, either they are stage managers, actors, journalists, librarians, musicians or painters – are architects of the soul of our nation and the shape and light of this soul depends on their voices, pens or bows.
„They say that, when arms speak, muses are silent. Yet, when the muses are silent, the evil and darkness flourish – and we must not allow this. The today’s laureates, through their work and talent, bring us the light of art and good. Together, we make Moldova more respectable, nicer, wiser and fuller of future,’’ President Maia Sandu said, wishing everybody peace.
