Chisinau, 9 April /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has given lectures at the Academy of Diplomatic and East European Studies of the Warsaw University and the College of Europe, during her official visit to Poland. The PM’s visit to the College of Europe coincided with the marking of Moldova’s national day, organized by a Moldovan student who studies in Poland, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister spoke before students and rectors about the steps taken by the Moldovan government, in order to implement the Association Agreement and the success achieved with the signing of the application on accession to the European Union. According to the PM, the Gavrilita cabinet’s mandate is highly responsible, aimed at combating corruption, at good governance and economic development.
„For the first time in the last 12 years, both the parliament, the presidency and the government are arranged in a line and lead the country in the same direction, one which shows the will of the overwhelming majority of the Moldovan people – to be part of the European family. Even if Moldova faces an unprecedented humanitarian and economic crisis, we are determined to continue the reform underway in the justice sector, which means also a social reform, as well as an economic one. A fair, independent and responsible justice system is the foundation of the democracy,’’ Prime Minister Gavrilita said.
At the same time, the PM tackled the subject on the humanitarian crisis which began in Moldova following the unleashing of the war in Ukraine. Natalia Gavrilita referred to the extraordinary mobilization of the society, economic agents, foreign partners and to the prompt reaction of the government, in order to manage the flow of Ukrainian refugees.
„Moldova, just as Poland, received a record number of citizens of Ukraine, who flee the war in continuation. We toughly condemn the actions taking place in the neighbour country and we speak out for peace and settlement of the conflict by diplomatic means. We are grateful for the support provided by our partners from the European Union, who prove solidarity and provide us with much support in these difficult times, marked by crisis and uncertainty. This is what the European family means,’’ the prime minister noted.
Following the lectures, the students of both Universities showed interest in the concrete actions undertaken by the government, in order to overcome the economic and humanitarian crisis established in Moldova. Some of the students asked the PM to give advice about the professional and personal qualities which a good state official should have.
