Half of works for improving aqueduct from north Moldova town carried out

Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The construction and assembly works within a project on improving the water supply services, financed by the European Union, are under implementation in the northern Edinet town. Specialists in monitoring projects of the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) and regional consultants of the German Agency for International Development (GIZ Moldova) have recently paid a monitoring visit on the site, in order to collect facts about the works’ carrying out.
According to estimations on the spot, the works within the project have been carried out at the level of about 50 per cent.
Forty km of water supply networks have been rehabilitated within the project in Edinet. These networks, within those 2,778 connections, will uninterruptedly provide over 18,000 residents of the town with safe drinking water. The construction period is September 2021-July 2022.
The overall value of the Edinet project is of 58.70 million lei, of which 50.70 million lei is provided by the European Union and 8 million lei is local contribution. With the support of GIZ Moldova, the municipal enterprise Apa-Canal Edinet benefits from financial support worth 34,000 euros, which includes a laboratory endowed with equipment for monitoring the water quality, equipment for detecting water leakages. Also, the staff is endowed with protection clothes and equipment.
At the same time, specialists of the municipal enterprise were trained on how to manage aspects dealing with the quality management, business planning, relations with clients and further extension of services to the neighbouring communes.
The investment measure, Improvement of water supply services in the Edinet town, is financed by the European Union and implemented by ADR Nord and the Local Public Services Modernization (MSPL) in Moldova. The MSPL Project is financed by the German Ministry Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by GIZ Moldova, in partnership with the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry of Moldova.
