Chisinau, 12 April /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with Leader of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats of the European Parliament Iratxe García Pérez. The discussions were focused on topical subjects, among which the security situation in the region, management of the refugees’ crisis and the priorities of the parliament of the 11th legislative period, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
The parliament speaker referred to the mechanism of management of the flow of Ukrainian refugees and the efforts made to provide them with medical, social and educational assistance. In the context, the speaker thanked the development partners for the support provided to this end.
”So far, 100,000 people from Ukraine have remained in Moldova, among whom women, children and elderly people. This means also a heavy burden for our budget. And in this respect, we count on the support of the European and international organizations, so that we give an efficient answer to the refugees’ crisis,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The speaker also touched upon the priorities on the parliamentary agenda.
”The zero priority stays the justice reform and combating corruption. Also, we have pending a set of laws for annihilating the propaganda. We will implement assumed reforms, which are important for our citizens,’’ the parliament speaker said.
At the same time, Igor Grosu talked about the goal of integration into the European Union, given that Moldova submitted the application on accession to EU in early last March.
”We rely on the European Parliament’s support for backing an ambitious transition in the relation of our country with EU,’’ the parliament speaker noted.
In the end, the participants in the meeting agreed on boosting the bilateral cooperation, including with the parties of the family of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats.
