Chisinau, April 13 / MOLDPRES /- The commission for assessing integrity of candidates for membership in the CSM, CSP and colleges has started operating. Minister Sergiu Litvinenco jointly with the Ministry of Justice team attended the opening of the first meeting yesterday.
The Minister thanked the six members of the Commission for accepting this extremely important challenge for the Republic of Moldova. "We all have high expectations for this exercise, but especially the citizens who want significant changes in the judiciary. It is the first systemic reform, which will start with the cleansing of the self-governing bodies - CSM and CSP, and will be followed by the evaluation of all judges and prosecutors. Our ultimate goal is that, in the next three and a half years, we will have a different system of justice: honest, fair and with honest people ", said Sergiu Litvinenco.
At the same time, the official informed the members of the Commission that international standards in the field of justice and the rule of law have been taken into account in policy-making. "The draft law was first consulted with the Venice Commission, followed by its finalization and approval. Next, the Ministry of Justice has a minimal role - to logistically support the activity of the Evaluation Commission and the secretariat, but also to learn the lessons that will be needed for the next stage - vetting. It is also very important that all the work of the Commission is as transparent as possible, because only in this way will we convince the citizens that our intention is to have a justice system that works for them ", added Litvinenco.
The evaluation committee is made up of three national experts and three international experts: Nadezhda Hriptievschi, Tatiana Raducanu, Vitalie Miron, Victoria Henley (USA), Nona Tsotoria (Georgia) and Herman Von Hebel (Netherlands).
