New rector appointed at ASEM

Chisinau, April 13 / MOLDPRES /- The Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (ASEM) has a new rector. This is Alexandru Stratan, who was elected yesterday by the academic community of the institution, thus replacing Grigore Belostecinic, who has held this position since 2001.

The new ASEM leader was elected from two nominated candidates. Belostecinic, who led the Academy for two decades, did not run.

Alexandru Stratan is a university professor, corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, director of the National Institute of Economic Research. He is due to be confirmed in office following a three-month procedure by the Ministry of Education and Research.
