Citizens to have access to more free of charge medical services in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/ - The volume of medical services provided through the means of the mandatory health insurances accounts will be extended. Thus, the insured citizens will have access to more free of charge medical services, which are essential for proper diagnosing and treatment. The cabinet today approved amendments to the single programme of mandatory health insurances, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Due to the amendments made to the single programme, the family physicians will be able to release referrals for more medical services necessary for establishing the diagnose. Also, all people will have access to anaesthesia, in case of carrying out procedure of diagnosing and invasive treatment, such as colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, puncture, biopsy, etc.
Also, according to the amendments, not only the patients will oncological diseases will be able to benefit from free of charge eye stenting, in case of anophthalmia, partial or total defect of the eye ball, but also people with other diseases. At the same time, all patients will enjoy individual oro-maxillofacial prosthetic appliances for free.
Also, decision-makers included contemporary ways of investigations in the list of advanced services, such as the cytogenetic testing through FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization), necessary for diagnosing the acute and chronic leukemia, as well as the malignant lymphomas. The cytogenetic testing is indicated also for diagnosing other types of cancer, such as the lung cancer, ovarian cancer, etc. So far, patients have had to pay for these investigations.
Also, the Positron Emission Tomography and Computed Tomography (PET CT) investigation will be carried out to all people, in order to assess the efficiency of the treatment in case of oncological diseases.
To diversify the diagnosing ways and reduce the financial burden on patients, decision-makers extended the spectrum of investigations for establishing the bacteriological, immunological parameters, cyto-morphological and histo-pathological investigations, radiological investigations, etc.
Also, the medical devices will be compensated, including the one for determining the glucose level, stoma bags, mammary exoprostheses.
The spending for the enforcement of the amendments proposed in the single programme of mandatory health insurance was provided for in the budget of the mandatory health insurances accounts for 2022.
