Fines for illegal fishing to increase in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today voted for the increase in the quantum of compensations for the damages caused through illegal fishing.

The suggested values of compensations for the damages inflicted through illicit fishing, sale, possession and export or through destruction of water biological resources have at their basis the categories of rarity, vulnerability, ecological and economic importance of species.

Fifty two species of fish and the value of compensations due to be paid for each sample, no matter its size, have been included in the document. The sum of compensations varies between 1,500 and 15,000 lei.

The compensations for the damage caused to the water biological resources have been varying between 50 and 5,000 lei.
