Chisinau, 25 April /MOLDPRES/ - Rescuers and firemen carried out over 40 missions on the first day of Easter.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), on Easter, a special vehicle of the Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication from Romania (SMURD) went from Moldova to a hospital from Odessa, Ukraine, where a patient, a 12-year-old child, was to be taken over and carried to a hospital from Romania. Unfortunately, given that the child’s condition was extremely serious and unstable, he died at the Odessa-based hospital and the SMURD special vehicle, which arrived at the concerned hospital, subsequently went back to Moldova.
Also on 24 April, information was received by the IGSU North controller’s office, reading that the corpse of a person had been detected in a water basin in the Balti city. The strength of the regional department of search and rescue No 2 intervened on the spot; they took out from the water the corpse of a man of about 60 years of age, without visible signs of violent death, who is presumed to have drowned in unknown circumstances. Law-enforcers investigate the case.
As many as 600 IGSU employees with 200 technology units are involved in the prevention and liquidation of the consequences of emergency situations.
