Moldovan foreign affairs minister has phone conversation with Italian counterpart

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu today had a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Luigi Di Maio. The officials tackled subjects on the regional security, in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as the developments in Moldova’s Transnistrian region in the last days, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The two diplomacy heads referred to the country’s energy security, as Italy is the country which co-chairs the working group on energy within the Moldova Support Platform, launched at the Donor Conference in Berlin on 5 April. The officials touched upon the need of concrete steps due to enhance Moldova’s energy resilience, including through the diversification of energy supply sources.
The officials also discussed Moldova’s European agenda, in the context that the country submitted the application on accession to EU and the procedure of filling in the questionnaires.
„I appreciated the full support on behalf of Italy of our European integration, reiterating our openness to do our utmost to advance on the way of integration into the European family,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
