Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - The United Nations Population (UNFPA) and the U.S. Embassy today donated 10 tons of firstaid kits meant for pregnant women to hospitals from Moldova.
Attending the event of donation’s delivery, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco said that about 450,000 women from Moldova, as well as women refuges from Ukraine would benefit from the donation. The firstaid kits are of three kinds and contain utensils, devices and medicines. They will reach 16 hospitals from the country.
Nemerenco noted that 80 women refugees had given birth for free in institutions from Moldova and the babies benefited from the assistance needed. ‘’UNFPA signed an agreement with the National Health Insurances House (CNAM) and will pay the expenses for these services; thus, the burden put on the medical system will be diminished. I thank also the medical employees who work in alert regime, in order to provide aid to those who need this,’’ Nemerenco specified.
"I am happy to inform that the United States, in partnership with the UN Population Fund, provides these kits for the reproductive health, which will be distributed to the women refugees from Ukraine free of charge. We know that these kits will help protect the women and children and maintain their health,’’ Ambassador of the United States to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon said.
