Animal control and protection company set up in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, April 29 / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau Municipal Council adopted with 33 votes a decision on the creation of a municipal enterprise that will manage animals with and without owners in the capital. The decision came as a result of an increase in the number of community dogs in Chisinau.

According to Councilor Ruslan Verbitchi, the emergence of the municipal enterprise Animal Control and Protection will lead to the creation of a single command center in the field, eliminate incorrect practices of management of the subject and exclude the duplication of existing responsibilities. "With the emergence of this municipal enterprise, we will be able to ensure a more rigorous control in the field," he said.

At the same time, the municipal councilor said that the new company will ensure a competitive salary for the staff employed and will centralize the budget flow intended to combat the increase in the number of community dogs.

According to some statistics, there are about ten thousand stray dogs and cats in Chisinau. In order to reduce and control these animals, the municipal councilors approved the granting of a budget of 2.5 million lei to the newly created enterprise.
