Moldovan parliament speaker pays working visit to Kiev

Chisinau, 4 May /MOLDPRES/- Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today met Chairman of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament) Ruslan Stefanciuk, during a working visit to Kiev. Attending the meeting was the head of the Moldovan parliamentary commission for national security, defence and public order, Lilian Carp, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
At the meeting, Igor Grosu reiterated to his Ukrainian counterpart the solidarity of Moldova and the entire Moldovan people with Ukraine. ‘’Since the beginning of the war, Moldova firmly condemned Russia’s military aggression and expressed full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,’’ the parliament speaker stressed.
Igor Grosu and Lilian Carp visited the settlements Bucha, Hostomel and Irpin, which suffered from atrocities which shocked the entire world. ‘’This war must be stopped and the war crimes – investigated and punished. Ukraine is in the face of the entire world an embodiment of courage and determination to defend its values and right to choose the future,’’ the Moldovan parliament speaker said.
Igor Grosu informed the Ukrainian officials about Moldova’s willingness to detach to Ukraine a contingent of sappers for demining the mined areas, so that civilians feel safe.
Moldova’s government provided humanitarian assistance worth 1.2 million euros to the Vinnytsia and Odessa regions of Ukraine. Presently, the next humanitarian package with medical products (medicines and equipment) is being prepared.
The parliament speaker emphasized that Moldova, since the first day of the war, had been with Ukraine and its citizens, who flee the wrath. Almost half a million of refugees from Ukraine entered Moldova and 100,000 refugees are in Moldova at present. About 2,000 children from Ukraine are registered general education institutions of the country.
”Also, Moldova is in full accordance with the financial sanctions imposed by the international community against Russia,’’ the parliament speaker said.
Igor Grosu highlighted that Moldova would remain united with the right fight of the Ukrainian nation for freedom and territorial integrity and would continue providing every needed support.
