Well-known Moldovan composer launches autobiographical book

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall, the Culture Department of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), under the action plan dedicated to the 85th birthday anniversary of composer Eugen Doga, today organized the launch of a volume of autobiographical book titled, Viața mea, așa cum a fost să fie (My Life, Just as It Was), signed by the well-known composer.  

The volume has 400 pages and appeared in a number of 2,000 copies, with the support of the Chisinau city hall’s Culture Department and a commercial society. Contacted by MOLDPRES, Eugen Doga said that he had had the idea to write a book many years ago. First, the composer believed that it would be a book of short stories. Afterwards, he ruled to sum up his biography in chronological order. The composer noted that traditional memories had emerged in the end. The book has pages dedicated to more well-known culture people of Moldova and Romania.    

Eugen Doga was born in the Mocra village, eastern Rabnita district, on 1 March 1937. He finished Stefan Neaga Music College and then graduated from the G. Musicescu Conservatoire and Arts Institute from Chisinau. Doga is author is valuable works in the genre of light, film and theatre music. He composed a symphony, cantatas Spring of Mankind and The White Rainbow, music to theatre plays, to more than 200 films, instrumental chamber songs, sentimental songs, songs for children. Composer Eugen Doga was awarded the State Prize of the Moldavian SSR, honorific title of People’s Artist, Order of the Republic, Order of the Star of Romania in Commander’s grade, Faithful Service Order (Romania) Order, For Services to the Fatherland and the Aleksandr Nevski Order (Russia). The composer is the author of a well-known waltz, My Sweet and Tender Beast, nominated by UNESCO as the forth musical masterpiece of the 20th century.
