Moldovan PM visits centre of recovery for children from Gagauz city

Chisinau, 6 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, during a working visit to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, went to the centre of recovery for children of the Ceadar-Lunga city, specialized in the treatment of children and adults with respiratory diseases, the ones of the locomotor apparatus and the nervous system, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.      

During the pandemic, the institution was re-oriented into a centre of post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, providing during 2021 year alone medical recovery services to 859 children, hit by the virus. Presently, the centre returned to the providing of neurological, pulmonary and locomotor treatments, annually serving about 2,800 patients.    

According to the head physician, Tatiana Damașcan, qualified physicians work at the centre, who might provide also services of psychological counseling and rehabilitation to children from families of Ukrainian refugees, hit by the war. ‘’We have in the team therapists, rehabilitation specialists, speech specialists, as well as psychologists, who have a rich experience in the treatment of children with diverse neurological and psychological diseases. Our institution receives children from all over the country and the treatment’s duration is 18 days. Presently, there are 70 children at the Centre,’’ Tatiana Damascan said.      

Natalia Gavrilita thanked the institution’s team for the effort made, especially during the pandemic crisis, which put a huge pressure on the national health system.    

„From the very beginning, we were set to work for strengthening the health system and implement a National Plan on Modernization of the Medical Institutions. A consolidated health system means a strong nation. Even on the period of this economic crisis, we additionally allocated 230 million lei for the public medical institutions for increasing allocations and compensating the expenses for energy resources,’’ the prime minister said.     

Also, last year, over 19.8 million lei was earmarked from the state budget for renovating the centre’s building and allocations worth 17.7 million lei were approved for 2022.

The centre of recovery for children of the Ceadar-Lunga has been working since 2002 and is the only republican medical institution with such a specialization. The institution has a capacity of 100 beds, of which 80 are financed from the national public budget.
