Socialist head of CMC left faction

Chisinau, May 20 / MOLDPRES /- The head of the faction of the Party of Socialists of Moldova / PSRM / of Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), Serghei Afanasenco, announced yesterday evening he is leaving the faction and will work as an independent councilor.
During a press conference, Serghei Afanasenco said he is leaving the party for personal and organizational reasons. "I will work as an independent advisor at CMC. I am leaving the PSRM faction for reasons accumulated over time. These are multiple, but the most important cause is the lack of democracy, discipline, team spirit and the threat of physical quarrel from a colleague of the faction ", he said.
Sergei Afanasenco was appointed chairman of the Socialist faction in the CMC in November 2019.
Chisinau Municipal Council consists of 51 councilors. According to Chisinau city hall, the largest fraction is that of the Socialists - 21 councilors, DA Platform - 13 councilors, PAS - 6 councilors, PL - 3 councilors, Shor Party - 2 councilors, PD, PCRM and National Unity Party - one councilor each and three unaffiliated counselors.
