Moldovan parliament speaker meets Dutch MPs

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has discussed with a delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the parliament of the Netherlands, on a visit to Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials referred to the unjust war from Ukraine and its major consequences for Moldova, the exemplary way the Moldovan citizens and authorities had helped the refugees, the developments of the security context, as well as the boosting of the inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The parliament speaker offered appreciations for the solid assistance provided to Moldova by the Netherlands, in order to cope with the flow of refugees from Ukraine, as well as for the humanitarian and economic assistance provided through diverse programmes during time – for the justice reform, energy security, combating the propaganda, backing the media. ‘’Thank you for the constant interest in Moldova,’’ the parliament speaker said at the meeting.
The parliament speaker highlighted the Moldovan authorities’ firm determination to continue the process of European integration, with the justice reform and combating corruption staying priority. In the context, Igor Grosu referred to the adoption by the parliament, in the first reading, of the draft on amendment of the Constitution, which cancels the parliamentary immunity for cases of active and passive corruption, influence peddling, excess or abuse of power, illegal enrichment and money laundering. ‘’The European integration means, first of all, the transformation of institutions. We will continue the justice reform, as we need viable institutions, due to ensure the resilience,’’ the parliament speaker added.
