Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets Danish counterpart

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Denmark Jeppe Kofod, on the sidelines of the 132nd Session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, held in Turin, Italy. The diplomats expressed solidarity in condemning the military aggression against Ukraine, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„I welcomed the implementation of a programme on supporting the press freedom and counteraction of misinformation, backed by the Danish government, as Moldova records an advancement in terms of the press freedom, including due to the changes started by the Chisinau authorities, which regard the improvement of journalists’ situation,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
The Moldovan diplomacy head thanked his Danish counterpart for the support provided to the country’s European integration. He noted that the country’s future in the family of the European states was based on meritocracy and the results achieved, delivery of the reforms demanded by the citizens, combating corruption and Europeanization of the state institutions.
At the same time, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on the regional situation and the recent developments in Moldova’s Transnistrian region.
