Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets counterpart from Malta

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Malta Ian Borg, in the context of participation in the Council of Europe’s ministerial conference. The officials discussed the possibility of cooperation in fields of common interest between the two countries, especially in the economic sector, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.  

The two ministers tackled the subject on the management by the Moldovan authorities of the humanitarian crisis, as well as the assistance provided to the refugees, in the context of the latest regional developments and their repercussions on the security situation in Moldova.

„Our European desideratum represented an important chapter of the discussion we had and I stressed the fact that, through the reforms we assumed and which we already implement, we are full supporters of the meritocratic spirit in the process of EU’s enlargement,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
