Chisinau city hall revoked demolition permit of National Hotel

Chisinau, May 23 / MOLDPRES /- Chisinau city hall revoked the demolition permit of the National Hotel, as a result of the violations found on the spot. Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban made the statement at an operative meeting of the municipal services.

The mayor proposed that the building be included in the Register of State Protected Monuments. "We do not know how the National Hotel became privately owned, but this is not welcome. Therefore, I propose that the building be nationalized and rehabilitated by the Government, with the support of the city hall, and after the rehabilitation a modern IT center be created there ", he said.

Late last week, information appeared in the public space that the demolition of the National Hotel had started. The capital's police denied this fact and specified that on the spot works are being carried out to fortify the access spaces in the building, in order to prevent the entry of homeless people inside the building.

At the same time, on the spot, specialists from the General Directorate of Architecture and Land Relations and the Directorate of Public Transport and Communications found several irregularities, including the location of the fence on the public road and stopping road traffic, without any legal basis. For these works, but also for the cessation of traffic on the road, no order was issued by the mayor's office.
