Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - The formulation of efficient public policies in the human rights sector in Moldova depends on the qualitative and correct statistics data. Therefore, the State Chancellery joins efforts of collection, analysis and dissemination of statistics data concerning the observance of human rights.

In this respect, the State Partnership will make partnership with the Office of Ombudsman and the Council on the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality, the Office of the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the National Statistics Bureau, in order to adapt the international indicators on collection of data on the human rights’ observance, especially the ones of UNO’s sustainable development goals, in documents of policies from Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

„We must have correct and modern instruments for an objective and comprehensive assessment of ensuring human rights in Moldova. The government backs the initiative of the institutions in charge from the field to transpose some international indicators in the context of adjusting the sustainable development goals in the documents of national public policies,’’ the government’s secretary general, Dumitru Udrea, said.

For her part, OHCHR head Beatrix Ferenci stressed: ‘’We will support, in continuation, Moldova in the development and analysis of the statistics in the human rights sectors according to the international norms, in order to make sure that nobody is left behind and the rights of all Moldovan citizens are observed.’’

„Due to international indicators, which will stay at the basis of the collection and analysis of the comprehensive and disaggregated data, we will be able to see where there are the biggest problems in the carrying out of the human rights and in which field exactly we should intervene,’’ Ombudsman Ceslav Panico said.

The head of the Council on the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality, Ian Feldman, said: ‘’The documents of policies in the human rights sector should meet the real needs of Moldova’s residents. Therefore, we get involved in this comprehensive process.’’

Within the joint activities, due to be carried out by the institutions in charge of human rights and the National Statistics Bureau, with the support of OHCHR and the State Chancellery, decision-makers will work out a methodology for the enforcement of the international norms on statistics in this field and piloting the methodology and representatives of ministries and other important institutions will be empowered and trained to ensure the implementation of the new provisions. Also, the new indicators will be included in the documents of public policies, in order to create a single system of collection and analysis of statistics data.
