Moldova has historical opportunity to join EU, Moldovan PM says at Davos Forum

Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/ - The way of overcoming the challenges faced by Moldova, as well as the need to adjust the European neighbourhood policy to the new realities was discussed at a panel at the Davos Forum today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In her speech, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita referred to the fact that the government would do its utmost to speed up the process of integration into the European Union, in order not to allow Moldova become a gray area of the European countries.
„We must use this historical opportunity, when all state’s institutions are aligned in the same direction, the one of freedom and democracy. We are determined to continue our pro-European agenda, in order not to miss the chance to edify a really European state, for the sake of the next generations,’’ the PM said.
Natalia Gavrilita also touched upon the processes of justice reformation, re-launch of the economy and regional development, started by the government. According to the prime minister, the authorities’ actions are aimed at quickening the process of integration into the European Union, by observing the citizens’ will.
„We have a historical opportunity of joining the free and democratic world. Moldova is resolute to be part of the European Union. Such a perspective will bring us prosperity and safety. I speak out for a receiving Europe, a Europe which will receive countries which share its values in its family. Moldova is one of them,’’ Natalia Gavrilita stressed.
The visions on Moldova’s European integration process were set forth by President of Estonia Alar Karis and Austria’s Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Schallenberg. Attending the discussions was also Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.
