Chisinau, May 26 / MOLDPRES /- Dozens of volunteers and employees of the Criuleni municipal enterprise have carried out an extensive sanitation campaign in the town this week as part of a project supported by development partners.

The stone ravine or the small Criuleni canyon, as the locals call it, has rediscovered its greenery and freshness thanks to a sanitation activity carried out by the Caritas Czech team. With the help of over 40 volunteers and 30 employees of Comunservice Criuleni, we liberated the region from garbage and household waste, thus expressing our respect for the environment and the community and giving the children participating in the event an example of behavior worthy to be followed in the relationship that man has with nature", a communiqué of the organizers reads.

According to them, in just a few hours, the participants in the action managed to collect more than a ton of garbage bags. Among the volunteers involved in the activity were also refugees from Ukraine, currently housed in Criuleni, who thus expressed their gratitude for the hospitality they enjoy in the Republic of Moldova.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Public Association Everyone contributes to change, Criuleni city hall and Comunservice Criuleni within the project Building a functional and sustainable waste management system in Criuleni, funded by the Slovak Government through SlovakAid, implemented by Caritas Slovakia - Slovenská katolícka charita and Caritas Czech Republic.
