Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Border Police today benefited from modern border control equipment. The donation’s goal is to strengthen the capacities of response to the challenges recorded at the state border.
Thus, the Mission of the International Organization for Migration, with the financial support of the U.S. Government, donated a consignment of 21 mobile document readers to the Border Police. The equipment is meant to ensure the implementation of the concept of mobile control points at the crossing of the state border. This equipment will enhance the capacities and flexibility of the Border Police in a more efficient management of potential flows of refugees.
Also, the United Kingdom delivered to the Border Police four portable X-ray scanners, which will facilitate the capacities in detecting weapons, ammunitions, drugs and other contraband objects.
The head of the Border Police, Rosian Vasiloi, has received on visit the director of the United States Refugee Admissions Programme, Bartlett E. Lawrence, and Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration Lars Lonnback, as well as United Kingdom Minister for Refugees, His Excellency Richard Harrington.
At the meeting, the Border Police head informed the development partners about the present situation at the state border, the actions undertaken in the context of management of the refuges’ crisis, in the wake of the war in Ukraine, as well as the measures of coercion prepared for managing a potential bigger flow of refugees.
