Week-end exhibition inaugurated at Chisinau-based museum

Chisinau, 28 May /MOLDPRES/ - A graphic exhibition titled, #Operadeweekend (week-end work) was opened at the National Art Museum of Moldova today. The exhibition could be visited on 28-29 May during 11:00-18:00. In this week-end, this exhibition presents a work by Lucas van Leyden, Mohammed and the Monk Sergius.
Lucas van Leyden (1494-1533), known also as Lucas Hugensz or Lucas Jacobsz, was a Dutch painter and engraver. Seventeen paintings of Lucas van Leyden have survived and a number of 27 works are known from descriptions by Karel Van Mander and from copies made according to them.
The picture dating back from 1508 shows a legend about Mohammed who travelled to Europe on the medieval period.
„Presently, his works are preserved in permanent collections in several museums from the world, such as New York, Boston, London, Philadelphia, San Francisco, etc.,’’ curator Elena Casiadi said.
