Moldovan, Portuguese presidents discuss bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a discussion, in videoconference format, with President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The discussion was focused on the security situation in the region and the bilateral cooperation, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state thanked her Portuguese counterpart for the humanitarian assistance provided to Moldova since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Also, President Maia Sandu thanked for the Lisbon authorities’ openness for the Moldovan fellow countrymen settled in Portugal.

For his part, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa appreciated the ambitious agenda of reforms of the Moldovan governance, the goal of which is to bring Moldova into the European Union’s family.

In the end of the discussion, Maia Sandu invited her Portuguese counterpart to pay a visit to Moldova.
