Moldova's National Anticorruption Centre detains bailiff, businessman

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - One bailiff and a businessman have been detained by the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), being suspected in more files opened for illegal dispossession of the municipal authorities from lands.     

According to CNA, the Chisinau city hall would have been illegally dispossessed from more lands by members of a crime ring, made up of lawyers, bailiffs, businesspeople and representatives of a public association.   

According to the quoted source, the scheme of embezzlement of plots of land from the Moldovan capital started in 2013, when a public association from Chisinau would have tried to fraudulently take possession of land plots. In complicity with more people, representatives of this society would have identified more addresses in Chisinau, would have formed real estate with the help of cadastral engineers and would have subsequently mimed the organization of public tenders. In 2014, the group members became real beneficiaries of 9 plots of land and afterwards, in 2015, another fictitious tender was held, through which the city hall was dispossessed of another 20 land plots.     

Within the prosecution, evidence was produced, proving that the damage caused to the local public authorities as a result of the embezzlement of 9 plots of land exceeds 12,000,000 lei. Presently, the bailiff and the businessman, as well as other their accomplices are prosecuted within more files for abuse of power, swindle, forgery of documents, money laundering.
