Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita has asked the competent institutions to get actively involved in the easing of the traffic of trucks who have been standing at border crossing points for more days and to create necessary conditions for the drivers in expectation, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the beginning of the cabinet meeting, Natalia Gavrilita said that the closing of the ports at the Black Sea and the destruction of the railway infrastructure had put a huge pressure on the logistics from the region. The waiting time at the exit from Ukraine can reach even five days and at the exit from Moldova it is 3-4 days. The situation stays difficult also at crossing points from the European countries, with the waiting time being 1-2 days.
At the same time, the PM noted that the cabinet already undertook actions meant to improve the situation at the border – corridors were created for the trucks which carry perishable products, as well as for the freight ones. Also, discussions are held with the Romanian side, in order to increase the speed of processing at the crossing points.
„I ask you to see what we can do, how can we improve the infrastructure. To create car parks, as well as to provide drivers with needed things. This is a priority subject and we must act thinking about people,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
The prime minister also referred to the importance of enhancing the capacity of the railway, in order to de-block the situation with the standing railway carriages.
