Oxana Gumennaia appointed Deputy Ombudswoman

Chisinau, June 9 / MOLDPRES /- Psychologist Oxana Gumennaia has been appointed Deputy Ombudswoman. The draft decision was approved by Parliament today, with the vote of 53 deputies.

Oxana Gumennaia has a master's degree in psychology. She worked in the penitentiary system of the Republic of Moldova for several years. She also worked as a psychologist in a nursing home, in a private practice, at the GENDERDOC-M Information Center. She was a member of the Council for the Prevention of Torture, a member of the Council for prevention and elimination of discrimination and equality.

During her term, Gumennaia will manage the mechanism for defending human rights and freedoms. Her term of office will be the same as that of the Ombudsman.
