Joint Control Commission holds weekly meeting in Bender

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) today assembled in Bender, in order to continue considering the agenda approved at the previous meeting, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.  

Contrary to the agenda agreed upon, the Transnistrian region’s delegation tried to distort the discussions, making reference to an incident which occurred in the Vladimirovca settlement on 5 June.  

As for the attempt to change the subject of the discussions, Moldova’s delegation reminded the sides that the area of responsibilities of the Joint Controls Commission was spread on the Security Zone and the Vladimirovca settlement is not in the Zone’s perimeter.

As far as the aforementioned incident is concerned, the OSCE Mission in Moldova informed the Commission about the fact that it was not able to confirm it, given that on 5 June an OSCE team was not allowed to collect facts on the spot, as the area was surrounded by Transnistrian power-wielding forces.

Bothered by the fact that things cannot move to the detriment of the JCC’s activity regulation, the Tiraspol delegation members walked out of the rooms defiantly, blocking the meeting’s carrying out.   

It follows from what happened that the Transnistrian delegation used a well-prepared scenario at home, in order to hinder the taking of a decision on the issue of the unilateral posts and the illegal presence in the Security Zone of representatives of the power-wielding structures subordinated to Tiraspol, armed with automatic pistols.

Russia’s delegation proposed an alternative formula for overcoming the dissensions on this subject of the agenda; yet, the leaving of the meeting by Tiraspol’s representatives did not allow considering the proposal.    

The subject of the illegal posts and the armed strength remains on the Commission’s agenda.
