Decision-maker of Moldova's Emergency Medicine Institute prosecuted for fraudulent management of COVID funds

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - One of the decision-makers of the Emergency Medicine Institute is prosecuted under the Criminal Code in a file on abuse of power. The decision-taker is suspected of having received commissions worth up to 200,000 lei (10,000 euros) from more employees who would have been remunerated illegally for the providing of additional services in Covid sections.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre, on the period March 2020-April 2022, the suspect would have included in time sheets salary supplements for physicians, assistants and other auxiliary staff who would not have been actually at the work in the sections for the patients sick with COVID. More exactly, the decision-maker would have provided performance bonuses worth 100 per cent and allocations of 100 per cent from the budget of the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) and in exchange, he would have received money rewards from the remunerated people.
Today morning, anticorruption officers and prosecutors carried out criminal prosecution actions in the job office, the car and at the home of the suspect. Evidence means were raised from these places, including money, in foreign currency.
The decision-maker is prosecuted at large.
