Moldovan foreign affairs minister meets French senators in Paris

Chisinau, 12 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, in Paris, has had meetings at the Senate of France with chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Christian Cambon and the deputy chairman of the Committee on European Affairs, Cyril Pellevat, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
„I appreciated the boosting of the dialogue on the parliamentary dimension between our countries, evoking the recent visit to Chisinau by a delegation of French senators of the France-Moldova friendship group, as well as highlighted the importance of the contacts between the competent parliamentary committees, in order to take over the best practices in such fields as justice, defence and security, finances, local public administration, as well as for the advancement of our irreversible European integration,’’ Deputy PM Nicu Popescu said.
The officials discussed the regional situation, the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine, including on Moldova and the social and economic recovery, as well as emphasized the need to consolidate the internal resilience.
„I thanked the French senators for the support of providing the status of country candidate for Moldova and voiced hope that the French legislative body would further support the approaches on our country’s modernization and European transformation. I am happy that Mr. senator Christian Cambon accepted the invitation to visit Moldova, in order to advance the Moldovan-French privileged dialogue in continuation,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu added.
