Fourth edition of iProsop Festival organized in Selemet, Cimișlia

Chisinau, June 13 / MOLDPRES /- The tradition of hand-woven towel was recalled yesterday, when Orthodox Christians celebrated Holy Sunday in the village of Selemet, Cimişlia district, during the 6th edition of the iProsop Festival.
“IProsop is dedicated to making hand-woven towels to make the most of this precious handicraft, present in every home, promoting it in all possible forms - cultural-artistic, historical, as an element of decoration and consolidation of citizens. We want to highlight the traditions and ethnic and regional customs, related to the national dress, gastronomy, folklore, rustic lifestyle and traditional sports ", according to Selemet City Hall.
Among the guests of honor of the event was President Maia Sandu, who revealed that she met at Selemet bright people with a big heart, people who love their country and honor their traditions. "I admired the works of folk craftsmen and the national dress of the participants, I caught up with the members of the artistic groups who came to the festival from all over the country and I tasted the goodies generously offered by our land. Congratulations to the people of Selemet, led by Mayor Tatiana Badan, for celebrating the idea of hand-woven towel - a piece of our national heritage, carefully crafted by our mothers and grandmothers and found in every home. from Moldova ", said the head of state.
The festival brought together gastronomic exhibitions and fairs, handicrafts, sports competitions, evolutions supported by folk ensembles from the country and abroad, emeritus artists, representatives of the cohabiting ethnic groups in the southern part of the country - Gagauz, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, etc.
The event was organized by Selemet City Hall in partnership with the US Agency for International Development, the Ministry of Culture, the United Nations Development Program, etc.
