Several blood collection points opened on World Blood Donor Day

Chisinau, June 14 / MOLDPRES /- Several blood collection points were opened today across the country to mark World Blood Donor Day. At the same time, the Ministry of Health and the National Blood Transfusion Center organized an event in Chisinau, which aims to raise awareness and encourage people to donate blood voluntarily and get involved in social responsibility.
During the event, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Ion Prisăcaru, thanked the donors for the gesture of solidarity, which ensures the proper functioning of the medical system. "The blood donation process is absolutely safe, due to the National Blood Transfusion Center, which organizes the collection and storage of blood products. I urge the citizens to join the donation campaign in order to increase the blood stocks and to ensure the necessary treatments for the patients who need medical assistance ", said Ion Prisăcaru.
The director of the National Blood Transfusion Center, Svetlana Cebotari, thanked the donors for their kindness and generosity. "It is already a tradition to honor you on this day. We thank you for the doctors and patients, because without blood products we could not provide medical treatment. We continue to encourage citizens to donate blood, not to be indifferent and to do this disinterested act of charity ", mentioned Svetlana Cebotari.
At the same time, on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, diplomas were awarded to voluntary and systematic donors. The event was held with the slogan "Donate blood - save lives".
In the Republic of Moldova, the needs of hemotransfusion therapy are fully covered, being collected annually over 70 thousand donations, covering hemotransfusion treatment for about 21 thousand patients. Every year, more than 25,000 people benefit from blood products.
