Tariff for travel by mini-bus to cost 6 lei in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 23 June /MOLDPRES/ - The tariff for one travel by mini-bus will be of 6 lei in the Moldovan capital starting from 1 July 2022. The head of the public transport and communication means department of the Chisinau city hall, Vitalie Mihalache, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
According to Mihalache, the tariff of 6 lei will be valid in the area of the Chisinau city, while an additional cost will be paid for moving outside the city. ‘’A tariff of 0.4 lei for each kilometer covered will be imposed for moving outside the Chisinau city, but not more than 12 lei on the entire territory of the Chisinau municipality,’’ Mihalache said.
As for the travels by trolley bus and bus, the Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, urged citizens to buy travel cards; thus, the expenses would decrease significantly. ‘’The travel cards will be sold starting from 24 June. We make efforts, to identify possibilities for the long-term travel cards to be purchased in installments. We are to discuss with commercial banks and we will have a final decision in several weeks. At the same time, when buying travel cards, both the medical and education system employees will benefit from price cuts,’’ Ceban noted.
According to the municipal authorities, one will be able to travel with the travel card from suburbs to Chisinau and back, no matter whether the person changes the transport means from trolley bus to bus; the price of the travel card will stay the same and unchanged. Thus, a travel card for one month will cost 234 lei; 594 lei for three months and 972 lei for half a year.
The tariff for one travel in the public transport from Chisinau was increased from 2 to 6 lei starting from 1 July this year. The price was set for one travel both by trolley bus and bus, in the city or suburbs.
