Chisinau, June 24 / MOLDPRES /- The promulgation decree and the Law for the ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the World Food Program were published today in the Official Journal.

The document sets out the main commitments of WFP's activity: import and delivery of food, direct provision of money to both Ukrainian refugees and host families in the Republic of Moldova, coordination of logistical issues related to the storage and transportation of humanitarian aid to town halls, placement centers and emergency shelters. WFP operations will take place for the first time in the Eastern European region.

The World Food Program is the UN's food aid branch, the world's largest humanitarian organization, which aims to strengthen food security and fight hunger. To date, more than 80 countries have received WFP assistance.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the World Food Program on the presence and activities of WFP in our country was signed in Chisinau on April 27 this year.
