Moldovan head of state discusses with president of Greece in Athens

Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed with President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou, during her working visit to Athens.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state thanked Katerina Sakellaropoulou for the humanitarian assistance provided by Greece, in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as for the support provided in Moldova’s European integration. In the context, Maia Sandu appreciated the support by Greece for the recent decision of the European Council to give Moldova the status of country candidate for EU.
„Greece is an old and reliable partner of Moldova and the Moldovan Diaspora, well-integrated socially and economically in the Greek society, contributes even more to the rapprochement between our countries,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The discussion was also focused on the bilateral Moldovan-Greek agenda. ‘’I noted that we rely on the ratification, as soon as possible, of the agreement on social security between our countries by the Greek side, as well as on the advancement of the negotiations on the agreement on conversion of driver’s licences. We are interested also in the enhancement of the commercial relations and of Greek investments in Moldova,’’ the Moldovan head of state said.
In the end of the meeting, President Maia Sandu invited Katerina Sakellaropoulou to pay a visit to Moldova.
